In the last few weeks there has been conversation among neighbors regarding the future development of Ridge Avenue. Many questions have been asked, and opinion made as to the types of businesses residents would like to see along this corridor and why. There are valid arguments that support the many sides of this issue. When is it appropriate to support a business? What kinds of businesses are best? When should a compromises be made with a business? When is it better to have a empty store front?
As Ridge Avenue grows, there will be many other issues that should be talking points. Just to list a few; The increase of Pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Effect on available parking. Its effect on property values. Its effect on quality of life issues. This list could just go on and on.
Neighbors have many ideas and opinions as to what is best. Despite any differences of opinion, I believe we all share in the belief that the final decision needs to maximise the potential of Ridge Avenue while maintaining the integrity of our neighborhoods.
I believe an ongoing conversation about these topics is the cornerstone to seeing the best possible outcome. But when should a compromise be made or a hard line stance be taken? With that being said, I like to invite everyone to make comments, bring attention to potential issue and/or benefits, describe their vision for the future, and discuss their opinion about what has already taken place, is taking place, or will potentially take place.
